The organic grapes are sourced exclusively from the Hochberg vineyard in Neckenmarkt, a site known for its steep slopes and barren soils rich in slate and gneiss. The south-facing exposure allows the vines to bask in warmth, imbuing the wine with vibrant fruit, minerality, and strength.
Hand-harvested and matured for 18 months in 500-litre oak barrels, with minimal filtration, this wine offers exceptional value. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red colour. On the nose and palate, it’s dry, showcasing ripe dark berries, delicate flavours, and lively acidity. There are only subtle hints of oak, with perfectly integrated, ripe tannins. The wine is powerful, gripping, and long-lasting, finishing with a refreshing, slightly mineral note—beautifully balanced.
A true expression of both the grape and the region, it remains restrained without being overly showy. With ageing potential of over 10 years, this is Blaufränkisch at its best, just as we love it!
