One of Rust’s core strengths is undoubtedly the red grape variety Blaufränkisch. Thispowerful reserve from this top-class winery has been awarded 94 points and a gold medal, and is a delight from the very first sip!

The grapes come from the finest vineyards in Rust. They are carefully harvested by hand and then aged for 24 months in 300-litre wooden barrels, some of which are new. The result is a finely structured red wine that impresses and delights in every respect.

Complex aromas on the nose of ripe cherries, blackberries, a hint of cedarwood and pepper. On the palate, it is dry, supple and very well-balanced. Every sip is distinctive and full of character. It possesses power and an invigorating fruitiness right through to the long finish, which is underpinned by Rust’s mineral character. It is just beginning to reach drinking maturity and has great ageing potential of at least 15 years.

It easily holds its own against the country’s finest Blaufränkisch wines in a tasting. It also pairs well with goose, wild boar or roast beef.
