Description
Grüner Veltliner is undoubtedly the flagship among Austrian white wine varieties, and it is in the Wachau that it shows its finest qualities.
The Grüner Veltliner from Johann Donabaum’s Kirchweg vineyard still has several years ahead of it, yet with a little aeration in a carafe, it is already a pleasure to drink. The nose is spicy and expressive, offering plenty of stone fruit, very ripe fruit, ripe apple and a subtle hint of smoky aromas. It is highly engaging and invites exploration.
On the palate, darker notes emerge alongside pronounced minerality and harmonious acidity, with a touch of herbal spice. The wine is multi-layered, with good structure and intensity. The finish is marked by abundant apple and stone fruit, supported by clear minerality. This is a great wine with strong character that will continue to develop beautifully.
