Description
Hill 1 was the first top wine that the star winemaker Leo Hillinger created. Thus it received its name. This famous, dry red wine cuvée made from 50% Merlot, 25% Blaufränkisch and 25% Zweigelt was aged in new oak barrels for 24 months. After some ageing in the bottle, this wine from the great 2020 vintage is now in its perfect drinking window.
On the nose, we find a variety of aromas such as dark fruits, blackcurrants, cherries and blueberries surrounded by a delicate balsamic and wood tone, which gives the wine an earthy scent. These earthy flavours continue on the palate, where the wine presents itself with a pleasantly supportive acidity and full-bodied tannins. The taste also shows balsamic aromas and the fruit tones of currants. The long finish keeps perfect balance and demands more.
Could still mature for 10 years and more, but who can resist it now?
