Manon Saurel of Domaine Montirius believes these wines require more explanation than conventional wines from the region. This may be true, especially given the unique absence of wood and the use of concrete tanks. However, once you have a glass of their wine, it speaks for itself!

"Garrigues" refers to the wild herbs and plants that grow throughout the Rhône, such as thyme, rosemary, savoury, and lavender, and these aromas are precisely what you’ll find in the wine.

The 2020 vintage showcases a dark red colour, dense and almost opaque. The nose is immediately greeted by vibrant red berries, particularly forest fruits, along with hints of leather and characteristic herbal spices. On the palate, the wine is powerful and multi-layered, with notes of herbs, forest floor, lively acidity, and ripe tannins. The finish is long, slightly fiery, and enhanced by spicy flavours, creating a memorable tasting experience.

This red wine pairs wonderfully with robust fish dishes but is also a fantastic match for game or lamb dishes.
