Rippon Winery stands among New Zealand’s finest producers, and this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc is a testament to that reputation. Awarded 95 points by Parker, this wine is not for beginners—it's crafted for seasoned enthusiasts who appreciate depth, elegance, and complexity.
Sourced from organically grown vines in a single vineyard overlooking Lake Wanaka in Central Otago, the site’s slate-rich soils impart a distinct minerality. Approximately 50% of the wine is aged in old French oak barrels, with the remainder in stainless steel tanks, resting for 47 days on fine lees to enhance texture and nuance.
On the nose and palate, it’s intensely mineral, powerful, and layered. Aromas evoke tomato leaf, olive, and ripe peach, with a clear note of rhubarb emerging on the finish. This is all framed by a firm stony backbone and an exceptionally long, focused aftertaste. Never frivolous, always precise—this is a wine of such vivid character, it almost demands to be bitten into.
