Description
The Oberer Wald vineyard is considered the next best vineyard in Rust on Lake Neusiedl after the Mariental vineyard. And E.T. the extraterrestrial (as Ernst Triebaumer is affectionately called) demonstrates with this Blaufränkisch how expressive and yet light the red wines from this region can be. With 95 points by Falstaff and 96 points by A la Carte for the 2019 vintage. Great praise indeed!
The grapes are selectively harvested by hand, gently pressed and then allowed to mature for 16 months in barrique barrels. The wine from these expressive, concentrated grapes achieves a fine between lightness, juicy soft cherries, spice and minerality. A true expression of the vineyard from vines that are over 70 years old! Although it is still in its youth, it is already very accessible on the palate. Nevertheless, it is a wine that will age well.
