Château Villars is one of the classics of Fronsac, and the 2019 vintage beautifully shows how much character and depth this Right Bank region can offer. Family-owned for generations, the estate stands for a clear and elegant style that highlights Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The 2019 is powerful and multi-layered on the nose with dark berries, ripe black cherry and a hint of plum, along with fine spicy notes, a touch of graphite, and subtly used wood that rounds everything off without dominating. The signature of the estate remains unmistakable with balance over volume and elegance over exaggeration.

On the palate, the wine presents a harmonious combination of juiciness and structure. The tannins are ripe and polished, the acidity keeps everything fres,h and the dark fruit continues through to the long finish. A fine, almost mineral flavour adds depth and complexity.

Château Villars 2019 pairs beautifully with braised beef, lamb dishes or strong hard cheeses. It also blossoms in a large glass and clearly shows how attractive Fronsac can be, especially in strong vintages. A Bordeaux full of character with personality and great pleasure.
