Description
This Pinot Grigio from Oltrepò Pavese clearly shows how precise and expressive the grape variety can be in this region. The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the natural freshness and tension. The wine then matures for six months on the fine lees before a short period in the bottle.
In the glass, the wine is straw yellow with light greenish reflections. The aroma is clear and inviting with notes of pear, green apple, citrus and a hint of jasmine. On the palate, the Pinot Grigio is taut and very fresh, with a lively acidity that gives the wine its racy character. The texture remains fine and straightforward, while a mineral finish rounds off the overall impression with precision.
The style is deliberately purist and focuses on drinking flow and clarity. The result is a white wine that is both uncomplicated and full of character, and a real pleasure to drink.
A different take on this grape variety, and definitely worth a try.
