Cordero San Giorgio RIVONE Oltrepo Pavese DOC Chardonnay 2022, 0,75 L

This impressive Chardonnay comes from the Oltrepò Pavese and grows in the vineyards of the Santa Giuletta estate, which face east to southwest. The thirty-year-old vines on chalky, clay-rich soils shape the wine clearly: juicy, mineral, powerful and with a potential that makes ageing well worthwhile.

The colour in the glass is an intense straw yellow. The bouquet is complex and wide-ranging. Ripe peach, orange blossom, vanilla and a fine hint of flint combine with a delicate honey note. This aromatic complexity always remains clearly structured and highlights the mineral character of the wine.

On the palate, the Chardonnay is harmonious and round, yet at the same time impressively juicy and full of inner tension. Fresh, crisp acidity provides liveliness, while a fine salty note adds length and depth. The impression is powerful and carries through to a long, precise finish that once again underlines its complexity.

Even though it already shows a very balanced character, the wine will benefit noticeably from some ageing, which will further harmonise its structure and bring out the mineral nuances even more clearly.

It is a versatile culinary wine and excellent with strong fish dishes such as fried fish or ceviche, with shellfish, mushroom pasta or white meat.
