During our visit to the Mantellassi winery, we were surprised to learn that the owner's grandfather was the founder of Morellino di Scansano. This legacy influences the meticulous attention to quality evident in their wines, a sentiment we can wholeheartedly confirm.

Le Sentinelle Riserva stands at the pinnacle of the Morellino di Scansano range, second only to a special wine produced in exceptional years. Aged for three years at the winery before release, this maturation period has undeniably enhanced its quality.

The Maremma region deserves credit for its consistency across vintages, ensuring reliability in wines like Le Sentinelle year after year. The 2020 vintage showcases abundant ripeness and complexity, with Sangiovese taking centre stage. Alicante, the Italian variation of Grenache, adds a rounded and harmonious character.
