A Syrah with character, depth and a good dose of Burgenland spirit! The 2023 Organic Syrah from the Gesellmann Winery in Deutschkreutz impressively demonstrates just how well this international grape variety thrives in Central Burgenland. The 2022 vintage was named variety winner by Falstaff, making it the best Syrah in Austria !

Even in the glass, it captivates with its deep ruby-red colour and violet highlights. On the nose, ripe plums and dark berries meet subtle herbal notes, candied orange peel and a hint of nougat. On the palate, it is powerful, juicy and yet wonderfully elegant. Ripe, finely polished tannins, a lively freshness and a pleasant mineral spiciness ensure a harmonious and long-lasting tasting experience.

The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards around Deutschkreutz and are carefully harvested by hand. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 20 months in small oak barrels and then in a large wooden cask until bottling. This lends it additional depth and a particularly lovely structure.
