If you enjoy Sardinian red wines, you cannot go past this Cannonau. The grapes come from vines that are around 40 years old, and this is clearly reflected in the depth and juiciness of the wine. It is aged for around six months in concrete and stainless steel, an approach that deliberately favours clarity and fruit without the influence of wood.

In the glass, the colour is an intense ruby red with light violet hues. The nose shows red berry notes, a hint of leather and a subtle herbal spice. On the palate, the wine is still youthful, yet already reveals a soft and juicy texture with well-balanced acidity. The finish is surprisingly long and once again brings out the red fruit flavours.

Cannonau is considered one of the most important grape varieties in Sardinia and is often referred to by winemakers as the prince of the island. This wine is a typical example of why the variety is so highly regarded. It is multi-layered, accessible and brings a Mediterranean warmth that makes it a reliable companion in many situations.

It pairs particularly well with pasta dishes such as Bolognese and lasagne, with salumi or with lighter meat dishes. A Sardinian full of character that feels equally at home in everyday life as it does with savoury dishes.
