Tenuta Villa Nova Sauvignon Collio DOC 2022

The Friulian Collio could be described as the cradle of Italian white wines. Here, unlike in the rest of Italy, white varieties clearly dominate.

Among these, Sauvignon Blanc, here simply called Sauvignon del Collio, but also Friulano in general, should not be underestimated. The rolling hills and the proximity to the Slovenian border characterise both the style of wine and the grape varieties.

Tenuta Villanova presents this very ripe Sauvignon which starts rather cautiously on the nose with lots of cassis and a hint of paprika. On the palate, however, it delivers a powerful punch with taut acidity. A very enjoyable wine to drink now but it also has the potential to age for several years. Best enjoyed from a slightly larger glass and not too cold for all the flavours to unfold.

An excellent Sauvignon that pairs with the region's cuisine and has no reason to take second place to wines from other more famous wine-growing regions.
