Description
The Hochgrail vineyard in Stainz in western Styria is one of the most beautiful places in Austria. At about 550 metres above sea level, steep rows of vines stand side by side with a view to the south. The gneiss soil produces slightly salty Schilcher wines full of character that can also mature for a long time. The vineyards here are worked exclusively by hand.
The 50-year-old vines produce small berry-like grapes, and fine ripe fruit and the high altitude provides the necessary freshness. Clear, rich pink colour in the glass. Redcurrants and raspberries with a light citrus note and well-supported acidity. Juicy and mouth-filling with a delicately savoury and long finish. Now at ideal drinking maturity and can still be stored well until 2032.
A wonderful accompaniment to a high-quality snack, to fish or to hearty pasta.
