Not every Ribera needs to be a grand spectacle. Baron de Filar reveals the charming, approachable side of Ribera del Duero, with dark fruit, subtle spice, gentle oak and a rounded mouthfeel that offers immediate enjoyment.
The 2019 vintage already shows pleasing maturity without appearing tired. On the nose, it reveals dark cherries, ripe plums and blackberries, alongside a hint of cocoa, delicate spice and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and supple, with juicy fruit, a well-integrated structure and a pleasantly spicy finish.
This is not a red wine that aims to overwhelm. It reflects the region’s power while remaining smooth and easy to drink. For this reason, it is particularly well suited to those who enjoy Ribera del Duero but are not always seeking maximum intensity in the glass.
This Reserva pairs especially well with braised beef, lamb, game ragout, hearty mushroom dishes or oven-roasted vegetables with herbs.
