Bernhard Ernst Blaufränkisch Ried Hochberg 2018, 0,75 L

The Hochberg vineyard in the Deutschkreutz mountains is ideal for Blaufränkisch, and is known for more than Albert Gesellman's Hochberc. A high lime content and heavy clay soils create wines with depth and elegance. This is a vineyard with a history from which many great wines have been coaxed, and this is one of them.

Pure Blaufränkisch in its most powerful form. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts in open barriques, long maceration and manual immersion of the mash. Malolactic fermentation and long ageing on the fine yeast with repeated stirring. Storage in 80% new French oak barrels. Bottled without filtration.

Power and warmth without end, red berry fruit, perfectly integrated tannins, subtle fruit sweetness, elegant and warm, and a long finish on the palate. It's still a bit young, but will mature well and happily for 10-15 years.

Almost too cheap for the quality. This is how Blaufränkisch should be - respect!
