Ecker - Eckhof V[i] W[a] Viognier 2024 Bio, 0,75 L

V[i] W[a] is a dialect expression meaning “how true.” The name playfully alludes to the French grape variety Viognier, which is not authorised as a quality variety in Austria and therefore cannot be officially stated on the label.

What truly matters, however, is what’s inside the bottle - and this wine is a genuine insider tip. The grapes were harvested by hand, fermented and aged in small oak barrels using natural yeasts. This process lends the wine added structure and a refined, cool elegance.

In the glass, it shows a clear, golden-yellow colour. The nose reveals delicate aromas of yellow fruit and papaya. On the palate, it is dry yet intensely fruity, complemented by subtle minerality. Floral notes of violet emerge, while the finish brings back a hint of exotic fruit and lingers pleasantly. A high-quality wine with excellent ageing potential.

A standout choice for blind tastings or anyone looking to try something new. It also pairs beautifully with fish and vegetarian dishes.
