Description
One of the best red wine cuvées in Austria with a 96 point rating!
This powerful cuvée is named after the Hungarian King Bela IV. During his reign, Deutschkreutz was first mentioned in connection with wine-making in a document dated to 1245. The cuvee of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot (Bordeaux blend) was matured for 20 months in new barrique barrels. Organically grown and harvested by hand, of course.
Dark wild berries, some orange zest, balsamic notes and tobacco spice on the nose. Elegant, dense and juicy on the palate with a firm texture. Hints of chocolate and cherries on the finish, and fine wood spice in the aftertaste. Still young, with excellent ageing potential. A wine with cult status.
