Weinhof Josef Scharl Pinot Noir Rosé Brut Reserve 2023, 0,75 l

A superb rosé sparkling wine in the ‘Reserve’ category from the 2023 vintage. And if anyone understands Pinot Noir in the volcanic region of Styria, it is certainly Josef Scharl.

The grapes come from various vineyards in the village of St. Anna am Aigen; they are harvested by hand, gently pressed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks. The base wine is then bottled for 30 months to undergo traditional bottle fermentation. ‘Brut’ here means only minimal dosage, with a residual sugar content of just 5g. This is what makes this sparkling wine so incredibly elegant.

Very fine effervescence in the glass and on the palate. A delicate, clear salmon-pink colour. Delicate and elegant on the palate. Spicy and fruity at the same time. Notes of dark berries, a hint of cherry and a slight saltiness on the tongue. A lovely, juicy finish on the palate that invites you to take the next sip. Lingers for a long time and demonstrates its high quality at every moment – hats off!

Ideal as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to salmon and seafood. Or simply on its own to enjoy life.
