Pinot Noir (also called SpÀtburgunder or Blauburgunder) is known as the king of red wines. Due to the large berries and thin skin, it produces very elegant and quite low-tannin wines. Traditionally, Pinot Noir wines are rust-red and slightly transparent. The taste is usually mild, velvety and aromatically complex with a long shelf life. The grape grows particularly well in cooler years.
