Kopfensteiner Szapary Blaufränkisch DAC Reserve 2021, 0,75 l

Eisenberg has been gaining popularity rapidly for several years now and is absolutely all the rage! It’s easy to see why once you’ve tasted this superb wine from the Szapary vineyard. It’s made from 100 per cent Eisenberg Blaufränkisch and thus embodies all the characteristics that make this region so special. A delicate yet self-assured wine that leaves a lasting impression.

After a good 18 months in a 500-litre oak cask, the wine was allowed to mature in the bottle for a few more months. And that was a good thing! On the nose, delicate, very subtle woody notes with underlying red berry fruit. On the palate, it’s a real ‘wow’ – full-bodied and iron-rich enough to make your teeth chatter, very lively yet fruity. The finish is typically mineral and salty with a long aftertaste. It lingers beautifully on the palate and delights immediately. Everything about this wine is just right.

The wine is now just beginning to reach drinking maturity and has excellent ageing potential. However, it will still bring a smile to your face in 10–15 years’ time. It pairs wonderfully with lamb and game dishes.
