A score of 100 points from international wine critic James Suckling - this is arguably the best Grüner Veltliner from Austria from the 2024 vintage!
The "Ried Berg" vineyard in the Traisental region is certainly one of the finest in this wine-growing region. And Markus Huber understands how to craft great wines with immense potential from these grapes like almost no other winemaker in the area.
Hand-harvested organic grapes are matured for eight months in large acacia wood barrels and aged extensively on the fine lees. The result is an elegant wine with power and a clear varietal character.
It boasts an intense aroma and flavour of orange zest, yellow pears, stone fruit, and hints of meadow herbs. It is complex, with delicate saline notes from the minerality, dry yet intensely fruity, finishing with a very long, pleasantly warm aftertaste.
It pairs wonderfully with white meats, cheese, or Asian curries. It has a secure ageing potential of 10 to 15 years.
