The Plumbago 2023 Organic showcases Nero d’Avola at its most seductive: dense, spicy and with a pleasantly smooth texture. A Sicilian red wine that immediately makes you want to take another sip. And these are exactly the sort of wines we’re looking for!

The grapes come from the Dispensa and Ulmo vineyards in Menfi and Sambuca di Sicilia. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged for ten months in French Allier oak – in third- and fourth-use barriques and tonneaux.

Its aroma is reminiscent of ripe plums, wild blackberries, incense, Modica chocolate and citrus marmalade. On the palate, sweet, seductive chocolate notes combine with a firmer, more direct structure; the rounded tannins are well complemented by the oak.

Serve it with barbecued meat with smoky notes, dishes with rich sauces or a hearty platter of braised meats. This characterful Nero d’Avola also pairs wonderfully with offal.
