The Esculpido 2023 is an organic white wine with strong character, made from the Avesso grape variety and sourced from the oldest vines of Quinta de Santa Teresa in Vinho Verde. The name “Esculpido”, Portuguese for “chiselled”, refers to the gnarled vines that have developed over decades and serve as the foundation of this complex and powerful wine, resembling living sculptures.

It offers a multi-layered aroma of white fruits, spices, and dried nuts, complemented by subtle roasted notes from ageing in French barriques. On the palate, it is extra dry, dense, structured, and elegant, with flavours of stone fruit, ginger, and herbs, along with a fine salty minerality typical of the region’s granite soils. The acidity is well integrated, providing freshness and tension, leading to a long, juicy, and complex finish.

It has good ageing potential and pairs well with cheese or white meat. This wine clearly demonstrates that very high-quality and complex wines can also come from this region.
