Toro can be a powerful, even intense wine region, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Numanthia has proven this impressively for years. The 2020 vintage shows remarkable power and concentration, yet remains surprisingly precise and elegant - a wine with real intensity, but also true class.

Its signature style is immediately evident on the nose: black cherries, blackberries, cassis, and ripe plums are layered with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, and fine spices. Subtle hints of warm herbs and a touch of smokiness from oak ageing add further complexity.

On the palate, the wine is dense, intense, and beautifully juicy. Old Tinta de Toro vines provide exceptional concentration, while the freshness of the vintage keeps everything lively and balanced. The tannins are clearly present, yet ripe and finely integrated. This balance of power, fruit, and structure is what makes Numanthia so compelling.

Ageing in French oak adds depth and length without overshadowing the fruit. Flavours of dark berries, cocoa, and a delicate mineral note linger on the long finish.

A great Spanish red for special occasions—ideal with steak, braised meats, game, or mature cheese. Given a little air, this Toro already reveals its full character, while still offering excellent ageing potential.
