Celler Carles Andreu
A discovery that shows just how magnificent Cava can be. Celler Carles Andreu, based in Pira in the Catalan region of Conca de Barberà, is a family-run organic winery with a long history. The family has been involved in winegrowing since the 18th century; a preserved document records the purchase of Mas Celdoni as early as 1781. In 1991, Carles Andreu founded the winery named after him in the historic Casa Pairal de Cal Celdoni, whose vaults and old fermentation vats still serve as a reminder of the winemaking tradition to this day. Since 2004, the new cellar in Pira has combined this history with modern winemaking technology. As a strictly organic estate, Celler Carles Andreu processes only grapes from its own organically farmed vines. This results in characterful cavas and wines with a regional profile, ranging from Brut Nature and Gran Reserva to other house specialities.
