Description
The 2022 vintage has produced many outstanding Bordeaux wines, yet Château Ducru Beaucaillou stands out even among them. The estate has been one of the most respected names in the Médoc for decades, and this vintage provides an impressive example of why Saint Julien is celebrated for its elegance, depth and precision.
The aroma alone is remarkable: dense blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, touches of graphite and refined spicy notes. There are also hints of violet, dark chocolate and a subtle roasted character that is perfectly integrated. It is typical Ducru Beaucaillou, with everything finely balanced and never excessive.
On the palate, the 2022 shows its full class. The tannins are silky yet powerful. The fruit is deep, ripe and at the same time fresh. The structure is clear, lively and wonderfully precise. The wine unfolds in layers across the palate and concludes with a long, elegant and complex finish, a true example of the modern Saint Julien style.
This wine has tremendous potential and will continue to evolve for many years. At the same time, it offers the approachability that defines the best wines of 2022. It is a wine for special occasions and one of the great achievements of its vintage.
