Chronic Cellars Sofa King Bueno 2021 Paso Robles Red Blend, 0,75 L

You should read the title of the wine very slowly, then you will realise that it has nothing to do with a king or a sofa. The wine itself, however, is something of a cult wine from California. It contains the typical grape varieties that are also found in the south of France. These have simply found a new home in the USA and, as with this wine, produce enormously drinkable, fleshy and also intense wines.

Every year, the wines from Chronic Cellars amaze us again, because you would not expect to find such high-quality and serious wines in your glass.

The wine immediately reaches the nose with notes of blackberries, sour cherries and strawberries. There are also clear hints of leather, along with some cocoa and caramel. On the palate, it delights with its juicy and elegant character, which belies the high alcohol content. Velvety red berry flavours appear, with firm tannins and fresh acidity, and good pressure on the palate. The finish is really long, with liquorice and roasted aromas lingering at the end.

It definitely gains with bottle ageing and needs plenty of air in the glass, then it truly opens up and becomes a real pleasure.
