Kollwentz Ried Katterstein Chardonnay 2021

One of the best, if not THE best Chardonnay in Austria! Every year, this white wine is one of the country's top wines and is praised to the skies by national and international critics alike. And rightly so, in our opinion.

The first mention of the Katterstein vineyard can be found in a document dating back to 1570. The southeast-facing vineyard is surrounded by the forests of the Leitha Mountains with calcareous slate soil which is perfect for growing Chardonnay vines. Matured in small French oak barrels, the wine is certainly still very young, but already easy to drink nonetheless.

Every sip is intense and enormously complex. As in Burgundy, the grape varietal takes a back seat here and reflects the terroir of its location. Yeast, brioche, delicate, fine wood with ripe yellow fruit. Pure mineral nuances! Finely textured and perfectly balanced into the lingering finish. Great cinema on the palate. It has enormous ageing potential - 20 years or more.

A meditation wine. The perfect choice to mark special occasions.
