Moritz Handmade Blaufränkisch Bio 2020

When the label says "Handmade," you can be assured the contents are 100% handmade! This is the philosophy of the Moritz organic winery in Horitschon.

The elegant organic Blaufränkisch from the premier Hochäcker vineyard was hand-harvested, carefully selected, and not processed mechanically. The mash was manually punched down, never filtered (only drawn off by hand), never pumped, and even bottled by hand. The wine matured for 18 months in both new and used barrique barrels. Sadly, only 600 bottles were produced, making this wine a strictly limited variety.

Slightly youthful in the glass and on the nose, this wine reveals its full potential. It opens up with air, offering notes of blackberries, ripe cherries, and delicate tobacco. Cool and earthy, it is taut, dry, and immensely complex. The oak presence is subtle and not overwhelming. The finish is long and promises even greater potential with time.

This is Blaufränkisch in its purest and most perfect form!
