Description
Etna wines are all the rage, and the Planeta winery has played a major part in this trend – that much is certain. This Etna Rosso from the Contrada Feudo di Mezzo brings Mount Etna’s volcanic origins to the glass. The organically produced 2024 vintage is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese.
The grapes are grown at 610 metres above sea level and are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats and stainless-steel tanks, after which the wine matures for six to eight months in wooden and stainless-steel tanks.
On the nose, it reveals vanilla, sour cherry and wild strawberry, along with floral notes, followed by hints of undergrowth, myrtle and oriental spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet supple, with expressive fruit and a spicy, salty character.
A versatile companion for pasta with tomato sauce as well as more complex meat and fish dishes – and just the right red wine for aromatic everyday cooking.
