Description
Alongside the Adria White, this ADRIA RED is another of our exciting discoveries. Awarded gold by AWC, it is a genuine insider tip from a small boutique winery.
The ADRIA RED is an authentic, low-sulphur red wine made from indigenous Balkan varieties such as Prokupac and Frankovka, the Serbian Blaufränkisch. The grapes were carefully harvested by hand in small crates, selected, and then matured for around 12 months in 500-litre Slavonian oak barrels.
It shows an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections in the glass. The nose is very fruity, with ripe cherries, plums, and a hint of vanilla. Dry yet very juicy on the palate, with blackberries to the fore, complemented by delicate nougat notes and soft, well-integrated tannins. The acidity is gentle and rather low, with a pleasing grip. It is lively, with a long-lasting impression and a silky texture on the warm finish.
A perfect match for Balkan cuisine such as ćevapčići, pljeskavica, or stuffed peppers with tomato sauce. It can also be enjoyed on its own to explore and broaden your horizons.
