A Blaufränkisch Reserve from Eisenberg that brings pure excitement to the glass. A local wine made from old vines, grown on 80 per cent slate, macerated for 12 days, then aged for two years in large oak barrels – the result is a wine with depth, structure and impressive minerality.

The nose is dark, stony and smoky, with herbal notes in the best sense of the word. These are joined by ripe sour cherries, redcurrants and a subtle umami spice. A hint of coconut is subtly perceptible but perfectly integrated; there may even be a nutty note in the background. The aromas have an ethereal quality, almost floating, yet remain deep and multi-layered.

On the palate, it’s full of vigour: firm, incredibly juicy, with vibrant acidity and ripe, delicate tannins. The dark aromas remain present, accompanied by a citrusy freshness on the finish – like a hint of cranberry juice that makes your mouth water and immediately makes you want the next sip.

A Blaufränkisch with elegance and character, powerful yet full of finesse. A wine that doesn’t need to be loud to make an impression.
