A white wine from Abruzzo called ‘White Scandal’? There’s actually quite a good story behind it.

During a tasting session, the wine was sampled alongside several other vintners and went down really well. Until the question of the grape variety came up. The answer: 50 per cent Chardonnay, 30 per cent Sauvignon Blanc and 20 per cent Pecorino. Apparently, this was something of a minor scandal for some of the winemakers present at the time – after all, the region traditionally favoured single-varietal white wines. And so the name was born.

Fortunately, these days there’s really only one thing that’s scandalous: how quickly the bottle empties.

The White Scandal 2025 is exactly the sort of white wine that combines unpretentious drinking pleasure with a wealth of flavour. On the nose, it reveals light fruits, pear and citrus notes, along with a hint of herbal spice. On the palate, it remains fresh and juicy, with lively acidity, lovely fruit and a fresh, citrusy finish.

This makes it a rather versatile choice: as an easy-going aperitif, with grilled fish, seafood or young cheese – and, of course, for all those evenings when ‘just one glass’ suddenly turns into the whole bottle.

Our verdict: It would be a real scandal not to chill it.
