Description
One of Austria's finest Chardonnays! This white wine consistently ranks among the country's top performers and receives high praise from both national and international critics. And rightly so, in our opinion!
The Katterstein vineyard was first documented as far back as 1570! This south-easterly site is framed by the Leithagebirge forest and is perfectly suited for Chardonnay vines with its chalky slate soil. Aged and matured in small French oak barrels, the wine, although very young, is eminently drinkable.
Every sip is intense and enormously complex. As in Burgundy, the grape variety takes a backseat here, allowing the terroir of this location to shine through. Expect yeast, brioche, delicate, finely structured oak, and ripe yellow fruit with pure minerality. Finely structured and beautifully balanced right through to the gratifyingly long finish, truly magnificent on the palate! It offers huge ageing potential of 20 years or more.
