Description

White Rioja is underappreciated by many wine lovers as the region is best known for its excellent red wines. However, wines like the Vinedo Singular from Finca La Emperatriz show how great and complex the white wines from the area can be. In terms of style, you could compare it to Bordeaux, where there are also great white wines. However, the grapes and thus the taste differ somewhat, making it very exciting.

A wine made from over 60-year-old Viura vines in a single vineyard, hence the name Viñedo Singular.

On the nose, it surprised us with unexpected aromas of pear, nut and some vanilla. On the palate, it's completely different - bone dry, with wonderful aromas of stone fruit and light fruits. The wood is used fantastically to support the wine. There's a wonderful balance of freshness and complexity, with very harmoniously integrated wood. This is a powerful, complex white wine that's one of the great white Riojas. 93 Parker and 95 Tim Atkin points underline this. The wine has great length and a vibrant finish. Anyone who dares think outside the box will be very pleasantly surprised by this Rioja Blanco.
