Meet “Mister Grüner Veltliner” of Burgenland! Leo Sommer has long taken over the reins from his father and is confidently forging his own path in the Leithaberg wine-growing region. The family-run winery was founded in 1698, cultivating around 30 hectares in some of the region’s finest vineyard sites. Today, it produces exceptional, characterful white and red wines - certified organic, sustainably made, and deeply rooted in nature. Leo’s wines are anything but simple. They shine with depth, minerality, complexity, and above all—honesty.

According to international wine critics, the estate now ranks among the elite of Austrian white wine producers. James Suckling awards up to 98 points and has named two of Leo’s wines among the Top 100 Wines in the World.

Grüner Veltliner is the estate’s flagship grape, vinified in five distinct styles. But Leo’s craftsmanship is equally evident in his Rieslings, Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs, and Blaufränkisch wines. Each bottle is given the time it needs, often maturing for extended periods on fine lees - whether in stainless steel, old large oak barrels, concrete, or barriques.

Leo considers himself a “wine artisan,” in constant dialogue with his vines, his soils, and the experience he’s honed over many years.
